Alpha - a poem
We met and we talked with our sisters and brothers,
Discussed many things - got to know one another,
Sat all round the table and ate lovely things -
Time went past so quickly as though 'twas on wings.
We watched every video - discussed the content,
Raised pertinent points and considered comments.
Some told us their problems and we prayed for each one
And when each of the meetings was over and done
We went home and pondered, and came to the Lord
And asked him to help us to understand his Word.
And some of us found to our joy and surprise
That the Holy Spirit came to us and opened our eyes
And He showed us that this one just needed one thing
While another had joy and wanted to sing,
And another shed tears, which softened our hearts
And another decided to make a new start.
And so as the weeks passed and He came to each one
We understood more and reached out to God's Son,
Tried to turn from old habits, formulated new goals
And there was an outpouring of love from our souls.
So with prayer and more prayer, again and again,
We thank you, dear Father, and join in the Amen.
