Baptism/ Christening

Do you want to give thanks for the life of a new child? Do you want to ask for God's blessing or protection for your child? Are you a teenager or adult who wants to make a public commitment about your new faith in God?

Baptism (or Christening - for the purposes of this conversation, the words mean essentially the same) is a very important moment in any person's life.

Talking to parents for a moment... One of the great things about the new birth of a child is that sense of thankfulness that you have for new life. We want to say 'thank you' and we believe that God is the right person to thank. Maybe you or your spouse were baptised as a child. Maybe you have had very little involvement in a local church since childhood. Whatever your circumstance, we would like to start a conversation with you about it. We would like to explore with you whether baptism is the right thing for your family and your child.

Do be in contact - by phone, by email, or in person (by coming to see us on Sunday). Then we can set aside some genuine time to talk through these important matters. If you read on, you'll see some further information that might be of help.

Talking to adults and teenagers for a moment..... If you were not baptised as a child but would like to take a step of faith - first thing: don't be afraid! (The idea of being baptised as an adult/ teenager can seem scary as it has traditionally been thought that only been babies are baptised in the Church of England - this isn't true!) Again, come along to meet us in person and see if Christ Church is the kind of spiritual 'home' that you would like to make. We would love to meet you and take the conversation further. (My email address is on the 'contacts' page.)

Whatever your circumstance, I hope that we will meet in person to talk things through.
